The Global Contact Lens Category Manager for Essilor International (EI) will be responsible for defining and deploying the Strategic Sourcing strategy in collaboration with all relevant Essilor Group business units (e.g. distributors, doctor alliances, online) and functions (e.g. Marketing, Operations, R&D, Supply Chain, The primary focus will be on driving Total Cost Optimization, Working Capital Improvement and Top Line Growth through Complexity Reduction, Innovation, Supplier Sustainability, Stakeholder & Supplier Relationship Management.


  • Build out the the global category strategy for contact lenses taking into consideration local and regional requirements, business development roadmaps, market trends, Group business objectives, the Mission and any other critical elements

  • Consolidate, organize, define and deploy all Essilor Group purchases related to the Business Categories

  • Acts as the main interface in managing and facilitating business relationships with key stakeholders and suppliers

  • Continually expands the influence of the Business Categories Team throughout the company

  • Identifies, communicates and takes action on opportunities arising from data analysis, supplier & stakeholder collaboration, market intelligence and own professional experiences to deliver financial value for the company

  • Constructs comprehensive category strategies to achieve stated goals (P&L savings, cash generation, supply risk mitigation, preferred suppliers, etc) within budget and on-time

  • Manages overall supplier qualification process, RFP/RFQ procedures, supplier selection, negotiation, contract development and implementation as it pertains to Contact Lenses

  • Leverages supplier relationships to drive innovation and sustainability through new products and services

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business required (Accounting/Finance, Purchasing and/or Supply Chain preferred) MBA is a plus

  • A combination of the following experience is required ( minimum of two ):

  • Commercial Experience (e-commerce or retail)

  • Optical (contact lenses a plus)

  • Strategic Sourcing / Category Management

  • Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) a plus

  • Must posess strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, including ability to address and resolve sensitive/emotional business topics

  • Proven ability to function at a high level within a matrix organization while creating and maintaining stakeholder and supplier relationships

  • Solid analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to think strategically and independently

  • Fundamental understanding of financial statements (Income, Balance, Cash Flow) and how Sourcing strategies impact each

  • Expertise in MS Office tools, in particular Word, Powerpoint, and Excel

  • Well polished presentation skills (both in creating and delivering the message) and follow up execution
