The Insurance Specialist is responsible for processing tasks, monitoring tax and insurance vendors, and fulfilling customer needs to ensure customer satisfaction. The Insurance Specialist responds to internal and external customers regarding escrow analysis, taxes and insurance inquiries.


  • Ensures insurance vendor is processing the insurance renewal premiums on escrowed/impounded loans and earned premium on force placed coverage

  • Ensures tax vendor is processing the tax disbursements on escrowed/impounded loans

  • Ensures all tax, insurance and PMI refunds are processed timely

  • Processes Escrow Analysis on escrowed loans

  • Processes PMI premium disbursements monthly / annually

  • Monitors all Loss Drafts to ensure all repairs are completed prior to releasing insurance claim funds

  • Coordinates with the Loss Mitigation, Foreclosure, Bankruptcy departments for approvals on property taxes and hazard insurance payments

  • Updates MSP to document conversations with customers and the status of all outstanding items

  • Responsible for responding to the borrower’s verbal inquiries regarding insurance, tax, escrow analysis and loss drafts

  • Handles Exception Report – disbursement rejects

  • Reviews and updates processing procedures as well as make recommendations for process improvements

  • Processes various special projects as needed

  • Performs other duties as assigned by management


  • Customer service, team and goal oriented with a positive attitude towards work and others

  • Ability to work in a high volume and time sensitive environment

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are needed to interact with internal staff and external customers

  • Strong organization and follow-up skills ability to effectively multi-task and prioritize workflow in a high-volume environment

  • Ability to work well independently, as well as, part of a team to achieve department/group goals

  • Well versed with regulatory and investor guidelines and keeps current with all Federal, State, industry specific and departmental policies


  • High School Diploma required

  • Bachelor degree preferred

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in mortgage loan servicing or in a related area

  • Knowledge of commonly used terminology, concepts, practices, and procedures within the mortgage industry


  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications

  • Intermediate working knowledge of the MSP/LPS system is required
