ABOUT THIS POSITION:

The Medical Receptionist plays a vital role in the medical office and in many respects, is the “face of the company.” This position requires excellent interpersonal skills, a friendly and outgoing personality, and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

PRIMARY JOB DUTIES:

The Essential Job Responsibilities include:

  • Answering a multi-line phone system and handling patient calls as appropriate

  • Scheduling and confirming patient appointments

  • Completing the New Patient Registration process, including sending Registration forms to patient via mail, electronically or directing patient tocom/patient-resources

  • Create and update Patient Accounts in eClinicalWorks, including demographic and insurance information. Demographics include current patient address, phone numbers and email address

  • Greeting patients/checking-in and checking-out patients

  • Verifying insurance eligibility and benefits with health plans

  • Obtaining referrals, precertification/pre-authorizations, as required

  • Collecting co-payments, coinsurances, balances, etc. at or prior to service

  • Scanning and sorting medical records in appropriate location in eClinicalWorks

  • Documenting in electronic medical records, including management of jellybeans and related tasks

  • Managing fax inbox(es), both in EHR and standard fax

  • Communicating and collaborating with other health team members

  • Cross-training with other team-members, at the discretion of the Practice Manager

  • Posting Charges and Payments in eClinicalWorks

  • Completing and submitting accurate End-of-Day Reconciliation utilizing InstaMed process

  • Timely completion of all compliance training and testing

  • All other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Certifications:

  • 1-2 years of medical office experience

  • Excellent typing and documentation skills

  • Excellent computer skills and experience with MS Office Word, Excel and Outlook

  • Exceptional customer service and communication skills, verbal and written

  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment

Mental/Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work well under pressure with diverse groups of professionals and physicians

  • Requires reasoning ability and good independent judgment

  • Must demonstrate sensitivity to cultural differences within team and community

  • May require working under stressful conditions and irregular hours

  • May require working with frequent interruptions

  • Work may involve prolonged periods of sitting, standing, lifting, bending, reaching and the ability to push or pull items weighing 30 pounds or less

  • Required to operate computer keyboard, mouse, and monitor
