In this exciting role as a Test Engineer II you will have responsibility and authority to create and perform verification validation activities for hardware and systems to ensure Medtronics cutting-edge medical products meet our users needs and our quality and reliability standards. This position requires application of technical expertise to solve complex technical problems with ingenuity and creativity. Work is performed only under general direction.
The Neuroscience Group develops life-restoring therapies and healthcare solutions that span the care continuum; integrating technologies and applying clinical and economic evidence to increase patient access, improve efficiency of procedures and deliver successful patient outcomes.
BRAIN THERAPIES offers an integrated portfolio of devices
and therapies for the treatment of neurological disorders and diseases, as well as surgical technologies designed to improve the precision and workflow of neuro procedures.
A Day in the Life
Participates in verification and validation of new or changed products including generating plans, protocols, and reports for testing performed.
Utilizes statistical methods and six sigma techniques to conduct experiments, analyze data, and perform root cause analysis under the supervision of more senior test engineers.
Develops test methods and approaches including test equipment design and build.
Coordinates and oversees the testing of equipment and product at outside test facilities.
Applies technical standards, principles, theories, concepts, and techniques to the development of test methods.
Provides solutions to a variety of technical problems of varying scope and complexity.
Participate in all phases of product development as needed such as reviewing requirements, design, usability, risk management, and defects.
Identifies and implements process improvements.
Effectively communicates findings, problems, and solutions to project teams and stakeholders.
Collaborates and maintains excellent working relationships with team members and stakeholders.
Provides technical leadership and mentoring to other test engineers.
Performs all activities in compliance with the Quality System.
Performs duties in compliance with environmental, health and safety related site rules, policies or governmental regulations.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements
Bachelors degree in a technical field isrequired
Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with 0 years of experience
Nice to Have
Knowledge of applicable AAMI, ISO, FDA, ASME, IEC, and EN standards
Working knowledge of hardware design, development, root cause analysis and test practices.
Oral and written communication skills.
Ability to work in a team environment.
Experience with medical device testing and understanding of FDA Quality System Regulations (QSR)
Able to handle multiple tasks/projects and manage priorities
Self-motivated with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently
Machine shop experience
Experience with statistical methods using MINITAB, R, or equivalent software
Experience with 3D CAD using CREO, SOLIDWORKS or other equivalent software.
Experience with reliability test methods.
Experience with shock/vibration testing, environmental testing, Operating System testing.
Experience with the following standards: IEC 60601-1, ASTM D4169, ISTA 2A.
