The Retail Operations Specialists is part of the Retail Operations team that helps support operations across the Retail organization. With over 250+ locations and 900+ Retail employees, this function plays a critical role in ensuring the success or our Retail organization and the delivery of an excellent customer experience.

This role has responsibilities for the development, maintenance and implementation of Retail policies and procedures, Retail communications to the field and project management in order to successfully implement Oportun’s strategic initiatives. This also includes being the primary point person and lead for retail in supporting internal departments both in the U.S. and abroad in delivering operational efforts and process improvements that impact the Retail field. Effectiveness in this role requires significant skillset and passion for managing in a quickly changing retail operations environment.

  • Management of all retail policies and procedures and the procedure repository. This is inclusive of the development, maintenance and annual review of procedures, as required

  • Drive and manage all Retail communications to the field; strategy, prioritization, quality assurance and management of the communications calendar based on field workload and requests from internal partners and the Retail Leadership team

  • Management of the retail Sharepoint and other team based sites; development and enhancements with internal partners, organization and maintenance

  • Manages and/or works closely with other Retail Operations team members and internal partners to assist in the execution of projects to the Retail field. Understands a project lifecycle; initiation, planning, execution, performance evaluation and closure

  • Proactively identifies opportunities for Retail process improvement while working closely with business partners and the Retail organization. Responsibilities include:

  • Creation of Retail operations standards, processes and policies both owned by retail and/or consulting and finalizing other updates from other departments

  • Go-to-market planning and execution support for the retail component of operational business initiatives


  • Bilingual in Spanish / English (Highly preferred)

  • Minimum 5 years working in a branch administration or other financial services operations environment. Previous experience working in a retail branch or front line retail line of business, preferred. This role requires a self-starter who is goal and process oriented.

  • Previous communications experience; drafting, quality assurance and distribution to a large audience base. Excellent verbal and written communications skills including the ability to design presentations and communicate throughout all levels of the organization. Ability to read, write and speak Spanish highly preferred, as translation skills are often required

  • Proven ability to build and sustain strong collaborative working relationships and be influential in the decision making process with internal teams across all lines of business and functional departments.

  • Excellent analytical skills, including the ability to anticipate issues and proactively address and problem solve.

  • Positive and flexible attitude. Acts as an advocate for our internal and external customers with our Mission in mind.

  • Detail Oriented, responsible and ability to work independently.

  • Strong proficiency of Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and SharePoint. Possess the skills to quickly become knowledgeable with software systems used to operate the business.

  • Strong project management skills with ability to meet tight deadlines in an ever changing business environment. Demonstrated through tenacity and persistence.

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Flexible and willing to travel as needed (up to 25%)
