This job is a member of the Information Technology team within the Information Technology Division. Responsible for providing the technical direction and leadership in the architecture, design, development and deployment of solutions within our customer base

What you'll do

• Define the technical roadmap for the Product, provide design and technical governance, and dictate technical standards, including software coding standards, tools, and platforms

• Evaluates product requirements and proposes solutions considering the products vision and the technology roadmap.

• Identifies gaps in agile and technical practices and collaboratively seek remedies for them

• Identifies ways to question the status quo. Lead experiments and alternatives to seek increased customer value, new learnings or both

• Collaborates with Tech Leads & developers to guide the architecture approach for the Functional and Technical Design; reviews, revises, and approves the content of these design documents

• Creates required artifacts to support technical application architecture, vision, strategy, standards, policies, and presentations

• Evaluates new technologies and tools, leads POCs to prove new ideas and champions good design practices

• Continually contributes technical input and responses in meetings and discussions in order to support the best application architecture

• Applies appropriate technology to reduce costs and/or improve productivity resulting in value to the company

• Maintains an effective approach on problem solving, multi-tasking, coordinating, and scheduling in accordance with stated goals to ensure visibility and predictability

• Mentors and coaches team members related to architecture, design, development, build, deployment and maintenance of applications and can be hands on when needed

• Influences and empowers team members for growth and independence

All you'll need for success

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

• Bachelor's in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Technology , Information Systems (CIS/MIS), Engineering or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience/training

• 5 years of application systems design experience

• 2 years architectural and design experience

Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

• 7 years of application systems design experience

• 3 years architectural/design experience, or technical/team leadership experience

• Airline industry experience

• Experience creating and presenting architecture solutions

• Experience delivering software using an Agile methodology like Extreme Programming, Kanban, or Scrum

• Experience coaching or mentoring others, in any context

• Ability to find creative ways of improving and simplifying solutions, systems, and processes without getting bogged down in the blockers or bottlenecks

All you'll need for success

Skills, Licenses & Certifications

• Hands-on experience in systems development in a variety of computing architectures and environments, with a deep understanding of architectural concepts, issues, and trends

• Knowledge of systems integration practices and understanding of Service Oriented Architecture principles, practices, and related technologies, such as XML, SOAP, REST, and JSON)

• Proficiency and demonstrated experience in the following technologies:

• .NET/J2EE environment, Microsoft technology, UNIX, Linux, MQ Series, UML

• n-tiered web architecture, relational databases, web development

• HTML, JavaScript, jQuery, other front-end development technologies

• Oracle/SQL Server

• Expertise in Disaster recovery and business continuity planning

• Thorough understanding of software development life cycles, development and technology tools, testing methodologies, and requirements gathering

• Ability to understand and analyze business data requirements in order to create accurate, extensible, flexible logical data models using modeling tools

• Proficiency in object-oriented design techniques and principles

• Experience in Agile methodologies

• Experience in DevOps Toolchain technologies

• Knowledge of NOSDQL databases

• Experience with Event Driven Architecture and Big Data Development

• Ability to manage multiple efforts concurrently with the skills to keep complex initiatives moving forward quickly while exercising an appropriate level of procedural discipline

• Ability to build strong and sustainable relationships with internal and external stakeholders
