O'Neal Industries, Inc. Operations Manager in Garland, Texas

Position Summary: The Operations Manager position oversees local scheduling and real time operations to maximize resources and achieve productivity goals, schedule adherence, and customer satisfaction.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Management and motivation of supervisors and warehouse staff through effective and efficient leadership methodologies

  • Support the development of direct reports by identifying training opportunities and setting performance expectations

  • Work with Operations Supervisors to adjust and schedule staff according to production needs while being mindful of the financial impact of labor cost

  • Model the company’s core values to maintain a high level of employee morale in support of the organizations company culture

  • Use effective personnel management skills to resolve employee complaints in a prompt, ethical, and fair manner

  • Use a high level of customer service and coordinate with multiple departments to ensure customer satisfaction and on-time delivery

  • Ensure the productive use of human and automated resources

  • Promote and demonstrate a safe work environment by following and supporting all internal safety procedures, compliance with OSHA/EPA regulations, and investigating and reporting all incidents of safety violations or injuries

  • Identify potential problems and implement solutions using collaboration and team-work skills

  • Manage the logistics plan of the facility, including company trucks and common carriers

  • Utilize reporting and production metrics in establishment of best practices and benchmarking

  • Implement and support continuous productivity improvements using LEAN methodologies

  • Oversee maintenance of the facility, grounds, and equipment

  • Use internal systems to manage the scheduling of material flow through the facility

  • Assist in the development of annual budget, capital expenditure plan, and forecast

  • Manage operational expenses to provide lowest cost solutions

  • Remains available to respond to any crisis, i.e., alarm system activated, injured personnel, or machinery breakdown/malfunction

  • Negotiate with vendors to identify cost savings

  • Performs all other duties as assigned

  • Knowledge and prior use of various hand tools, measuring, and guiding devices

  • General understanding of business finance with regards to budgets, labor cost, and capital expenditures

  • Computer skills with high level knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to visually interpret multiple shades of colors

  • Must be able to hear, speak and interpret sounds

  • Hand and finger dexterity in operation of a desktop and/or laptop computer, keyboard, and mouse

  • Frequent head and neck motion including; upward, downward, and side to side directions

  • Utilize manual dexterity of arms, elbows, wrists and fingers

  • Ability to sit for up to 8 hours per day when working in office on computer

  • Ability to stand and/or walk for up to 8 hours per day when working on the production floor

  • Infrequent lifting of weight up to 50 pounds from floor to waist level

  • Carrying up to 50 pounds at waist level for a distance no greater than 5 feet on an infrequent basis

  • Ability to push and pull weight of up to 30 pounds at chest level

  • Must be able to bend, squat and/or crouch down using knee and hip movement

  • Frequent torso movement involving twisting, bending and/or stretching is performed

  • Using full body motion to climb in and out of forklifts as needed

Work Environment:

  • Typical office environment setting

  • Frequent exposure to an environment with moving mechanical parts, consistent with the standard manufacturing and/or warehousing environments with frequent exposure to loud and continuous noise

  • Exposure to dust is consistent with a warehouse environment

  • Summer and wintertime temperature fluctuation is expected and determined by the specific geographical region and heating/air conditioning system in place at that specific facility
