Job Description

David Weekley Homes is looking for a Communications Coordinator with a strong background in writing and communications to join the Marketing team at our Houston home office. This role supports our home office as well as all markets where we build.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Copywriting for in-house collateral, sales office displays, and website

  • Promote David Weekley Homes by writing and submitting advertorial (PR) for all of our markets

  • Act as the internal PR firm for David Weekley Homes by coordinating media inquiries and pitching/writing press materials

  • Write and edit company newsletter, the Weekley Press, and Customer newsletter, LifeDesignSM

  • Create and distribute publicity reports

  • Work closely with the Creative Team on developing ideas for projects

  • Assist Marketing Coordinators in developing media relationships

  • Write profiles for Builders and Warranty Service Reps.

  • Write industry award entries

  • Coordinate TV and video projects

  • Update intranet portal page

  • Writing for company blog and social media channels

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelors in Communications, English, or related field required

  • Working knowledge of AP style

  • 3-5 years professional experience with media relations, ad, and creative copy writing. Experience writing for social media channels is helpful as well.

  • Able to handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment; extremely organized, detail oriented, able to handle deadlines and prioritize

  • Excellent writing (including proper spelling/syntax) & communication skills

  • Strong word processing and organizational skills

  • A self-starter, conscientious about doing quality work on a timely basis

  • Customer-oriented attitude with a strong sense of urgency and constant follow-up

  • Positive attitude and ability to be flexible

  • Strong Team player ethic

  • Able to accept constructive criticism

  • Able to work independently, quickly and efficiently

  • Eager to take on challenges and learn new things
