Airgas Usa LLC Cylinder Filler in Houston, Texas
The Cylinder Filler is responsible for safely handling and filling gas products into high pressure gas cylinders in compliance with federal, state, local regulations, and meeting the standard operating procedures of Airgas.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Job duties include, but are not limited to the following: * Examines returned cylinders for defects.
Fills cylinders via pressure, temperature or by weight.
Tests filled cylinders for leaks by spraying chemical solution around valve.
Ensure cylinder filling records are accurately maintained and that all required procedures are followed complying with local, state and federal regulations.
Complete necessary production steps in PPM system.
Removes/replaces product labels.
Screws protection cap over valves.
Loading and unloading pallets.
Stocking cylinders using forklift or hand truck.
Ensure all safety rules are strictly observed and any accidents or injuries are promptly reported to management.
Assist with inventory and general housekeeping
Tube trailer fill.
Able to perform nonconforming product problem solving.
Understand basic compressor operation and maintenance
Understand basic liquid pump operations
Ability to troubleshoot and perform basic equipment maintenance
Understanding of bulk product supply and daily bulk reading requirements.
The ability to train new gas fillers in all of the above aspects of the department

HS Diploma or equivalent required.
Minimum of one year of prior experience in a manufacturing operation, filling or loading experience preferred.
Preferred knowledge/experience in gas, welding and safety supply industry or chemical industry preferred.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to read and comprehend material safety data sheets.
Must be able to work with a wide variety of people with different personalities and backgrounds. Excellent customer service skills.
Ability to work independently and under some pressure to meet deadlines.
Strong level of attention to detail.
Ability to perform math functions and analysis as needed by the position.
Ability to safely operate a forklift.
Lives by Airgas safety programs, OSHA, and all related rules, regulations, procedures which are applicable to this position’s responsibilities.
Ability to work a second shift if needed.
Ability to work independently and under pressure to meet deadlines.

Ability to perform work during prolonged standing (up to 8 hours). Frequent bending, stooping, crouching, reaching, pushing, pulling, and repetitive motion required.
Ability to perform work during occasional climbing, balancing, kneeling and crawling.
Ability to perform very heavy work – routinely lift 25 – 75 lbs., and occasionally lift 76 to greater than 100 lbs.
Ability to push and pull containers weighing up to 800lbs with the aid of material handling equipment.
Ability to talk to and hear customers/co-workers as well as smell/hear leaking gas from cylinders.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
