Microchip Technology Engineer I-Software Development in Houston, Texas

Description

Microchip Technology Inc. has an opening for an Engineer I – Software Development position in Houston, Texas. In this role, the candidate will work within the Automation Quality Assurance (QA) Level 1 group utilizing a custom QA framework and will be responsible for validating storage solutions in a fast paced, non-stop, automated test environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Help to design, develop, and maintain an ever-expanding automation QA framework and suite of test cases and tools used to validate a complete data center storage solution

  • Improve the efficiency and ability of the QA framework

  • Work with QA and Development teams to debug and triage both test case and product failures

  • Understand product implementation and expected product behaviors by reading specifications and source code

  • Develop test plans for validating new solutions and feature sets

  • Maintain servers and other hardware/software components used for continuous automated testing

  • Work with QA and Development teams to track and provide estimates for tasks by utilizing and following the Agile methodology

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering

  • 1-2 years of programming experience in C++, and Bash Shell scripting

  • Knowledge of Object-Oriented Design and best practices

  • Strong analysis and debug skills

  • Experience working in multi-threaded environments

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Experience working with Linux operating systems

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Programming experience in Java and/or Perl

  • Working knowledge of relational databases

  • Familiarity with server storage technologies and concepts (RAID, SCSI, etc.)
