HERE’S WHAT YOU’LL GET TO DO

Campbell Concrete, a Lehigh Hanson Company, is seeking a qualified Fleet Maintenance Area Supervisor. This position will reside in Houston, Texas.

The Fleet Maintenance Area Supervisor will assume a leadership role leading a team of Fleet Maintenance Leads and Mechanics. This individual will help in keeping the fleet operating at optimum performance and within budget. This individual must have strong communication skills and leadership abilities, along with a strong background in shop maintenance management.

Campbell Concrete & Materials operates 23 ready mixed concrete plants throughout the greater Houston area. With more than 200 mixer trucks and nearly 400 dedicated employees, Campbell has provided a quality ready mix product for over 50 years.   • Supervises and provides direct leadership for leads, Mechanics, and technicians in assigned area.

  • Oversees daily work priorities for down equipment based on repair needs, and discusses with shop leads.

  • Determines equipment needs, supply needs, and maintenance routines required at shop level.

  • Assures that required parts are ordered in a timely fashion so as not to delay work.

  • Redirects staff to overcome problems such as equipment failure, material delays, unplanned absences or unexpected high priority work with in assigned area.

  • Adjusts plans, assignments, and methods as necessary to accomplish the work safely, effectively and economically, and discusses any changes with Fleet Maintenance Operations Manager before implementing.

  • Coordinates and issues work plans to help reduce scheduled and Non- scheduled conflicts.

  • Maintains a culture of safety for staff by ensuring all CCM and CTS safety policies and procedures are understood, implemented, observed, and practiced.

  • Explains overall mission goals set by Fleet Maintenance Operations Manager to subordinates.

  • Notifies Fleet Maintenance Operations Manager of serious or unresolvable issues, and initiates proposals for formal disciplinary action as needed.

  • Sets performance standards and completes formal performance ratings on employees assigned.

  • Manages disciplinary policies and Investigates all grievances and complaints on shop floor and forwards issues to Fleet Maintenance Operations Manager when appropriate. .

  • Is responsible for all payroll and office functions in assigned area.

  • Monitors Fleet established PM program for efficiency on a daily basis.

  • Supervise a variety of tasks related to the overall operation of the fleet shops to include maintaining stock levels of frequently used parts, batteries, tires, gas, and diesel fuel; ensuring that reasonable neatness and cleanliness standards are maintained in shop areas; overseeing the safe disposal of used oil, contaminated fuels, antifreeze and other hazardous materials, and reports and discrepancies to Fleet Maintenance Operations Manager.

  • Plan, coordinate, and administer goals, objectives, and policies to maintain an effective fleet of vehicles for use on a daily basis.

  • Manages recruiting, staffing and employee development activities for employees reporting to this position.

  • Provide direction to lead mechanics, mechanics, and lube technicians assigned to area to ensure that all repair and maintenance work is performed in a safe, efficient and timely manner.

  • Perform inspections of internal and vendor repairs to ensure all work was properly completed in accordance with Company’s safety and compliance procedures and federal and state regulations.

  • Oversee repair diagnostics on more complex matters and provide coaching, where necessary; may be required to road test vehicles to determine necessary repairs.

  • Review and approve expenses that are within scope of approval level; refer larger expenses or major repairs to manager as appropriate.

  • Maintain advanced knowledge of body, engine, emission, transmission, brake, hydraulic, electrical, and heating/cooling systems to help ensure equipment is back in an operable condition as quickly and as safely as possible.

HERE’S WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • A minimum of five (5) year’s working within a fleet environment, desired; or a combination of education and experience.

  • A minimum of three (3) years of leadership or management in fleet repair and maintenance field, desired.

  • Must be self-motivated and able to perform without constant supervision.

  • Must be able to properly prioritize, implement and manage work schedules, projects, and assignments.

  • Strong customer service skills, organizational skills and leadership abilities are essential.

  • Must have a valid driver’s license, a CDL Class A or B is preferred.

  • Must meet Companies requirements for employment.

  • Ability to read/comprehend written instructions and information in English Language.

  • Must be self-motivated and able to perform without constant supervision.

  • Must be able to properly prioritize, implement and manage work schedules, projects, and assignments.

  • Must have computer skills.

  • Possess excellent communication and customer service skills, both written & oral.

  • Must have technical competence with Heavy duty vehicle repair and preventive maintenance.
