Gyrodata Legal Counsel in Houston, Texas
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will have strong drafting and negotiating abilities with excellent interpersonal skills to thrive in a dynamic and challenging environment. The Legal Counsel will work with all facets of the Company ranging from executives to sales associates, and will be responsible for all facets of the Company?s legal affairs including:
Advising management on various legal issues relating to the business of the Company, including strategic initiatives, corporate planning and customer relationships;
The preparation and negotiation of all agreements necessary for the Company?s execution of sales with third party customers both domestically and internationally;
Assisting the supply chain management team with procurement concerns, establishment of procurement protocol and the execution of all agreements necessary for the Company?s execution of purchases with third party suppliers;
Coordinating and collaborating with the legal team and other Company departments with respect to corporate governance, compliance, corporate policies and standard operating procedures impacting the Company;
Overseeing the development of programs to prevent and detect violations of laws, company policies, and other misconduct; promoting ethical practices; and ensuring the implementation of the compliance program throughout the organization;
Providing legal advice and support on policies and matters relating to labor and employment, including non-discrimination, hiring, discipline, performance management and termination issues;
Supporting the continuous improvement of standard form agreements, legal processes and policies, and contract management with regard to our independent merchant business.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, REQUIREMENTS
Law School: preference will be given to a top-20% graduate from a nationally ranked (top 50) school, or in lieu thereof, law school awards or achievements, such as graduating with honors, law review or mock trial/moot court.
Undergrad: Must have at least a bachelor?s degree and have graduated in the top 25% of their class.
Experience 3-5 years as an attorney with:
Previous firm experience at an AmLaw 100 firm or in-house legal department;
Experience conducting contract negotiations and drafting;
Strong analytical skills and problem-solving mind-set;
Prior success?whatever prior experience must have clearly demonstrated success.
Be a member in good standing with the Texas State Bar;
Though not essential-each of the following is a ?plus?:
In-House corporate position
Experience working with business team leaders on key legal issues;
Fluency in Spanish.
Must be able to successfully pass all applicable background screening tests.
Must have excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
