Sasol North America SAP Technical Specialist (SAP Development) in Houston, Texas

Sasol (USA) Corporation is expanding its existing Louisiana Chemical Operations with the development of a world-scale ethane cracker that will produce 1.5 million tons of ethylene and other downstream derivatives per year. The ethane cracker will enable Sasol to expand its differentiated ethylene derivatives business, while helping to strengthen U.S. Manufacturing, boost exports and spur economic growth.

Due to our tremendous growth we are recruiting for a SAP Technical Specialist (SAP Development) . This position will report to the Information Technology/Information Management Department and is located in Houston, TX. Below are details of the position requirements:

Position Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain SAP design and technical specification documents; assist in defining and documenting SAP Best Practices.

  • Participate in the analysis of the business operations to validate requirements and scope, suggest process improvements and assist in effort estimation.

  • Ensure technical solutions maintain design integrity, adhere to functional designs and meet business needs.

  • Develop, test, debug, implement, maintain and document ABAP code used in RICEFW (Reports, Interfaces, Conversions, Extensions, Forms and Workflows) objects on an ECC 6.0 System.

  • Work closely with stakeholders to translate business requirements into user-centric designs and facilitate the development and rollout of new applications, features, and tools.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve production support issues

  • Assist with upgrades, new releases and monitor performance of the technical objects

Experience and/or Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree required

  • At least 8 year experience in SAP ABAP/4 programming using: SAPScript, iDocs, BAPI, RFC.

  • Solid Experience with RFCs, SMOD/CMOD, BADIs, Enhancement Framework/Spots.

  • Development and knowledge with the SAP PM/MM/IM/SM modules.

  • Ability to transform business function requirement into technical program specs, and to code, unit test and debug programs.

  • Experience with BAPIs, BADIs, RFCs, IDOCs, LSMW, writing user exits, BDC coding and interfaces.

  • Experience with implementation of standard Fiori applications (transactional, factsheet and analytical) and enhance standard applications using enhancement framework.

  • Knowledge with SAP application templates (e.g.: Worklist, Master-Detail), Smart Controls, Smart Templates, Fragments and Themes.

  • Help drive long-term UX strategy by balancing design thinking, technology, and customer needs.

  • Design & model OData services using the Gateway Service Builder.

  • Understanding of data structures and data objects

  • Knowledge of SAPUI5, HTML5 and Java Script development is a Big PLUS

  • Good communication skills
