The Senior Accountant will assist the Accounting Manager with technical accounting research, process improvements, and ensuring US GAAP and SOX compliance for the business segment. In addition, the Senior Accountant will be responsible for preparing percentage of completion project revenue schedules for the segment and a key resource for implementing and ensuring compliance with new revenue recognition rules. This position requires a candidate with strong initiative that can adapt to the changing needs and requirements of the business.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Analyze compliance requirements for the business segment including Sarbanes Oxley, audits and company policy and procedures.
Various quarter-end responsibilities of consolidating and reviewing SOX documentation.
Analyze and understand the accounting of contracts under percentage of completion revenue recognition accounting for the business segment.
Prepare business segment percentage of completion schedules for review with senior management. Work with divisional finance teams and operations ensure projects are accounted for according to company policy.
Subject matter expert within the segment for compliance with new revenue recognition rules.
Review contracts and ensure revenue is recognized properly.
Provide support as needed on internal and external audits.
Coordinate and analyze activities for the segment to ensure proper accounting treatment per US GAAP.
Assist in acquisition due diligence and integration.
Research technical accounting issues and draft white papers.
Analyze current processes and recommend improvement strategies.
Work on other special projects as needed.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant work experience
CPA or actively pursuing CPA strongly preferred
Experience with ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle strongly preferred
Intermediate to advanced Excel skills required.
