Job ID #: 1300 Location: Houston, TX Functional Area: Finance Department: Tax- Corp Position Type: Full-Time Regular Education Required: Master's Degree Experience Required: 7 - 10 Years Relocation Provided: Position Description The Sr. Income Tax Provision Manager is responsible for managing the US, Canadian, and Mexican income tax provisions along with the estimated tax projections under the direction of the Tax Director. This person will supervise the Senior Tax Provision Associate and manage the department s relationships with external auditors. Main accountabilities: Review and prepare quarterly tax provisions and deferred tax calculations to ensure deferred tax balances are accurately reported Prepare quarterly tax provision s effective tax rate computations Assist with the implementation, design, and revision of tax provision related processes and tools (e.g., Excel & Powerpoint) Draft and/or review compliance memoranda detailing income tax treatment of specific transactions and their impact to the business Interact with and educate Accounting Department staff and other departments as needed to ensure that the Tax Department obtains all information needed for the tax provision calculation and reporting Train and develop direct reports Maintain a strong relationship with third party partners Identify accounting to tax temporary and permanent differences relating to new transactions Assist other Tax Department personnel with research, project review, and other tasks as needed Perform and review projected income tax estimates under various assumptions Direct reports: up to 2 people Travel: None Position Requirements Minimum qualifications: Bachelor or Master s degree in Accounting 8+ years in public or industry experience in preparing or reviewing tax provisions CPA required Proficiency with tax accounting software is preferred Expert partnership taxation knowledge; US federal and state taxation knowledge Familiarity with regulations at the federal, state, and local level Knowledgeable with SOX Act regulations Behavioral requirements: Strong written and oral communication and presentation skills Ability to multi-task in a dynamic environment Ability to meet non-flexible deadlines which may include working overtime when needed Strong interpersonal and organizational skills Ability to be self-motivated Energy industry experience preferred Physical demands & working conditions: Sitting/Standing/Flexibility: Ability to stand and sit for 8 or more hours when in an office environment Speech/Reading: Ability to speak, read, and write English proficiently and deliver a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form Lifting: Ability to lift items weighing up to 10 pounds Vision/Hearing: Ability to understand a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form Safety: Ability to understand and communicate safety precautions when necessary We are an Equal Opportunity Employer and do not discriminate against any employee or applicant for employment because of race, color, sex, age, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, status as a veteran, and basis of disability or any other federal, state or local protected class.
