Barrios Technology Test & Verification Engineer - Human Space Flight (SE&I) in Houston, Texas

Our long-term client relationship with NASA has led to a need for a Test & Verification Engineer - Human Space Flight (SE&I) on the Human Space Flight Technical Integration (HSFTIC) contract at Johnson Space Center (Houston, TX).

HSFTIC supports multiple human spaceflight programs by providing products and services for mission and program technical integration activities. This includes the necessary infrastructure functions for the International Space Station (ISS), Orion and Gateway programs, with the potential for supporting additional human spaceflight programs or projects via task orders.

The Test & Verification Engineer - Human Space Flight (SE&I) will:

  • Provide test and verification engineering support for the development and integration of commercial visiting vehicles for the International Space Station (ISS).

  • Develop and coordinate verification plans, test specifications, and test procedures.

  • Participate in integration and test working groups, test readiness reviews, and provide support during project milestone reviews.

  • Integrate across technical teams to track and close ISS visiting vehicle requirements.

  • Coordinate between ISS subsystems teams and the visiting vehicle provider subsystem and system level hardware and/or software test programs.

  • Present status of requirement closure metrics to ISS Control Boards and review visiting vehicle design review packages, identify action items, and work these to closure, as required.

  • Support covers all phases of the visiting vehicle development cycle, including: design, fabrication, test, installation, operation and disposal.

  • Periodic travel to support project milestone reviews and programmatic meetings.

  • Implement process improvement initiatives that promote the progression of expertise within a more digitized systems engineering and integration environment.

  • Manage work products and services with guidance from team lead.

  • Perform all other assigned duties.

Required Education/Experience/Skills:

  • BS degree in engineering from an accredited engineering school and five (5) years engineering experience.

  • Knowledge of product life cycle development, test and verification, systems engineering & integration principles, and a good working knowledge of associated engineering disciplines.

  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal), integration, coordination and presentation skills.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint).

  • Knowledge of Space Exploration programs, the International Space Station and its visiting vehicles.

    Preferences:

  • MS degree in engineering from an accredited engineering school.

  • Working experience with product lifecycle management (PLM) software: JIRA, DOORs, or other similar project tracking tools.

Essential Requirements:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and successfully complete a U.S. government background investigation.

  • Applicant selected may be subject to government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

  • Work may involve sitting for extended periods.

  • May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lb.

  • Must have sufficient mobility to enter areas of test facilities where necessary.

  • Generally an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task.

  • Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, fax, etc.)

  • Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical.

  • Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements when required.

  • Must be able to work in a team atmosphere.

  • Must put forward a professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation.

  • Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.
