The Bergaila Companies Vessel Designers in Houston, Texas

We are currently seeking an experienced Vessel Designer for a leading EPC company based out of Houston, TX. Our client has a presence in 48 countries worldwide, with state-of-the-art industrial assets on all continents and their own fleet of specialized vessels for pipeline installations and subsea construction.

The Vessel Designer will be responsible for:

  • Providing expertise for the completion of capital and/or maintenance projects in the Mechanical Design discipline in order to ensure safe, economical, constructible and maintainable designs.

  • Creating all drawings on bid packages/order packages for the group.

  • Developing scope, cost estimate, schedule, design strategy and determining resources needed on mechanical projects.

  • Applying engineering principles in discipline of competency, as assigned by SME with some direction.

  • Performing engineering / design calculations, for vessels.

  • Preparing basic specifications detailing performance requirements, specific components, design requirements, applicable design codes, and vendor drawing requirements.

  • Preparing MST’s for inquiring and ordering equipment.

  • Preparing sketches and performing calculations for a specific segment of a project.

  • Evaluating vendor bids and drawings to assure compliance with specifications.

  • Designing equipment systems that are safe, reliable, economical, constructible, and maintainable in accordance with client standards and work processes. Systems will include both new installations and modernization of existing facilities. Systems will incorporate multiple areas of mechanical technology.

  • Using computer design tools to create complex detailed design drawings and documentation used for construction bid packages.

  • Exchanging technical information with peers, other engineering disciplines, and suppliers.

  • Evaluating client design standards for correctness, applicability, and relevance to design package.

  • Submitting Management of Change (MOC) documents to correct existing design standards or to create new ones.

  • Providing engineering field support on construction projects when requested by the Owner’s Representative or plant.

  • Reviewing and checking inner discipline bid/construction packages prepared for issue.

  • Attending and participating in project team meetings, including final team check.

  • 5-10 years+ designing with specific experience in Vessel Design

  • AutoCAD proficiency is required

  • Mix of EPC and Fabrication Vessel experience preferred

  • Ability to coordinate others to accomplish objectives

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw conclusions
