Job Description:

Position Summary:

  • This position is responsible for coordinating the proper and accurate accounting of the company’s revenues and related receivable accounts within this international hospitality company. This includes general ledger postings of inn level restaurant financial transactions, cash receipts recording, bank deposits, various balance sheet account reconciliations, audit work papers and documentation of procedures. Also includes assisting Credit Risk function with Direct Bill applications and payments.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains the integrity and accuracy of the accounting systems by ensuring consistency and timeliness of all reporting activities.

  • Records all checks/cash/ wires for Management to Inn POS (NiteVision).

  • Analyzes bank deposit journals.

  • Posts payments against outstanding balances; assists clerk in uploading lockbox information into POS.

  • Performs posting of cash receipts, expenses, and other transactions to journals and verifies accuracy.

  • Prepares weekly and month-end general ledger journal entries.

  • Prepares monthly balance sheet reconciliations.

  • Sorts and files documents after processing.

  • Assists with the monthly close process.

  • Assists in research resolution for Revenue Accounting issues.

  • Researches and responds to P&L inquiries from operations and credit & collections inquiries.

  • Provides required documentation for financial and SOX audits.

  • Scores Direct Bill Applications for credit worthiness.

Qualifications

Education/Experience

Minimum Education:

  • Associates Degree or High School Diploma with relevant work experience

Minimum Experience

  • 2 to 3 years

Computer Experience

  • Intermediate Word & Excel Required

  • PeopleSoft, NiteVision and Cognos Preferred

Minimum Skill Requirements:

  • Involves no responsibility or authority for the direction of others.

  • Decisions/impact is normally limited to this position.

  • Work consists of routine tasks, processes, or operations. The incumbent selects and applies several clearly prescribed, standard policies and procedures requiring little interpretation. Problems are solved by choosing between a few clear choices or discussing them with a supervisor.

  • Makes routine decisions; work may occasionally involve non-standard assignments; however, the methodology is normally prescribed in detail by the immediate supervisor.

  • Responds to and handles unfamiliar situations with direct supervisory guidance.

  • Has knowledge of office or operational procedures. Performs basic typing/word-processing, bookkeeping, checking of charts or records and posting of information to a database/spreadsheet, following instructions.

  • Work tasks follow the same order and require little interpretation. Problems can be solved by choosing between a few clear choices which are clearly spelled-out through talking with the supervisor.

  • Requires regular contact within the department, corporate office, operations and Direct Bill clients.

Physical, Mental and Environmental Demands:

  • Working conditions of the position are a normal office situation.

  • May work alone or closely with others.

  • Work is completed sitting at a desk or table with intermittently standing and stooping.

  • May be required to do light lifting or carrying.

  • Capable of working in a fast paced environment and in stressful situations.

  • Must respond to multiple task interruptions and still provide service to internal and external customers in a professional and courteous manner.

  • Prioritize and manage work and time effectively.

  • Requires good hearing.

  • Requires good near and distant vision.
