We are seeking a talented individual for a Strategic Research & Analytics Manager. This position is accountable for providing insights, analytics and other critical data requirements to support the Office of the Chairman and drive high performance at HMS. Responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive analytics strategy that leverages financial, customer, business, and human capital data and turns it into meaningful and actionable information for the Chairman and executive team. To that end, this position manages HMS’s internal and external customer survey processes, including vendor relationship management and day-to-day activities associated with survey development, deployment, and analysis of results. The role supports HMS’s strategy execution and culture transformation, including managing the process governing the successful integration of acquired companies into the fabric of HMS. This position also provides consulting support and insights to other department activities related to data collection, analytics, analysis and action planning and accountability, and other duties as assigned by the Chief of Staff to the CEO.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate external client surveys, including annual Voice of the Customer survey; manage external vendor relationship; oversee survey communications, preparation, internal data gathering, and deployment; package, interpret, and present the findings to various stakeholder audiences; facilitate action planning around the data

  • Support mergers & acquisitions area by interfacing with Corporate Development department during due diligence process, project managing subsequent post-deal integration and communication activities, and maintaining standard process documentation governing overall integration

  • Coordinate Voice of the Internal Customer survey for internal departments; implement survey and compile, analyze, and present results

  • Solicit data regularly from multiple internal sources to maintain currency of central database of key corporate statistics, and populate enterprise scorecards that track long-term strategic progress; monitor action items driven by trend analysis

  • Support mergers & acquisitions area by performing market research via multiple channels; understanding strategic fit of potential target companies/products; communicating advantages and rationale via written presentations; and supporting departmental deal tracking

  • Provide departmental support in the development of regular and ad hoc Board-related communications, particularly those tied to strategic initiatives and industry trends

  • Provide ad hoc data gathering, research, and analysis to support corporate and strategic initiatives

  • Leverage quantitative and qualitative analysis to partner with clients, build recommendations, present findings, and implement strategies

  • Works with client(s) to develop project approach and/or implementation plans

Work Conditions and Physical Demands:

  • Primarily sedentary work in a general office environment

  • Ability to communicate and exchange information

  • Requires occasional standing, walking, lifting, and moving objects (up to 10 lbs.)

  • Requires manual dexterity to use computer, telephone and peripherals

  • May be required to work extended hours for special business needs

  • May be required to travel at least 10% of time based on business needs

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree required


  • PMP certification or demonstrated experience managing large, complex projects in a matrixed organization

Minimum Related Work Experience:

  • 5 years practical experience in market research, customer survey deployment, corporate development, balanced scorecards, and/or data analytics required

  • Experience developing superior written communications and reports, summarizing complex data and developing insights clearly and concisely preferred

  • Prior experience operating in a Market Research, Strategic Planning, Corporate Development, or Marketing environment preferred

  • Experience within the healthcare market environment and/or M&A integration preferred
