We are currently seeking a Research Assistant Professor to work on a project funded by the FBI. The research project addresses the practical challenges of Iris Presentation Attack Detection (IPAD). Iris presentation attack or spoofing attack is performed to hide a person’s real identity by using contact lens, or to impersonate someone else by using printed and scanned iris images. Iris presentation attack detection is well studied in indoor environment where iris images are captured in a controlled setting.
This FBI research will focus on developing a unified illumination-invariant iris presentation attack detection tool that can effectively be used in both controlled indoor environment and unconstrained outdoor environment without compromising on the performance. The tool will be developed in Python and the source code will be provided to the FBI for independent testing.
The candidate will work independently with minimal supervision, and provide monthly, quarterly, and final technical reports to the FBI. The candidate must test the performance of the prototype IPAD tool using publicly available iris images and document the performance results to the FBI. The research will be performed at Texas A&M University-Kingsville (TAMUK). The research results must be disseminated in journal papers and conference proceedings.
