The State Board for Educator Certification will require all first time applicants for an initial credential to be fingerprinted as part of a national criminal background check. A cost of up to $49.00 will be charged for fingerprinting. PRIMARY PURPOSE: To perform the duties required to maintain, repair, and operate irrigation systems for school properties and campus areas in order to maintain a high standard of safety, cleanliness, and presentation of grounds. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: Troubleshoot irrigation systems for leaks, electrical problems, and desired adjustments. Set and adjust irrigation controllers per supervisor s instructions. Maintain, repair, and operate all irrigation systems owned by the District. Coordinate with supervisor for watering requirements of turf and shrubs. Coordinate with supervisor for maintenance schedule of irrigation systems. Coordinate with supervisor for maintaining the irrigation system stock, supplies, and tools. Assist grounds personnel, when required, by using deck mowers, string trimmers, cutting and trimming shrubs and trees, and raking leaves, grass clippings. Assist building maintenance personnel, when required, to pull cable, set-up equipment, move heavy ladders/lifts, etc. Commute to and from multiple facilities within the District as assigned, using District-owned Vehicle. Demonstrates regular and prompt attendance. Perform other duties as assigned. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES None GENERAL QUALIFICATION GUIDELINES Education/Certification/Experience: High school diploma or GED. One year equivalent experience in irrigation systems installation, repair, and operation. General knowledge of equipment for grounds care is desired. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Ability to operate the required equipment to complete the assigned tasks; speak clearly and be understood; read, understand, and follow verbal instructions in English. Physical/Mental/Environmental Demands: Ability to understand, remember and apply oral and/or written instructions of other information. Must move about within building to perform maintenance work. Occasionally ascends/descends a ladder. Constantly positions self to be able to reach items on ground or above head. Frequently moves items weighing up to 50 pounds. May be exposed to high or low outside temperatures.
