Job Summary: Provides a broad range of clerical functions for physician, patient and immediate clinic supervisor. Greets, instructs, directs, and schedules patients. Serves as a liaison between physician, patient, and clinical staff. Frequently exercises independent judgement and discretion under the direction of Clinic Supervisor/SWMP Manager. Takes action based on knowledge of the policies and procedures of Covenant Health System and the medical group. Performs duties under minimal supervision.

Essential Functions:

  1. Greets patients and visitors in a prompt, courteous, and helpful manner.

  2. Registers patients, verifies and updates necessary information in the medical record.

  3. Maintains appointment book or appointment scheduler and follows office scheduling policies of the medical group/SWMP.

  4. Answers telephone, screens calls, takes messages and provides clerical information.

  5. Pulls and files charts, coordinates lab work.

  6. Sorts and delivers mail, medical records and other correspondence.

  7. Handling of precertification and referrals.

  8. Performs Trial Daily Close and completes daily banking deposits.

  9. Collecting co-pays and self pays.

One year minimum experience in a medical office setting to include data entry and clerical

Preferred Position Qualifications:

• Knowledge of Medical Manager.

• Knowledge of medical terminology.

• Knowledge of managed care contracts.

• High School degree or equivalent.
