Lubbock Heart Hospital Manager, Environmental Services in Lubbock, Texas

  • GENERAL SUMMARY

  • Oversees and manages shifts of all persons on the Lubbock Heart campuses engaged in housekeeping, linens, scrubs, pest control & landscaping. Oversees assigned shift, delegates assignments and supervises staff and contractors in the performance of their duties. The overall goal of this position is to enhance and upgrade the cleanliness, beautification and safety of all persons and properties located with and associated with Lubbock Heart & Surgical Hospital to the furthest extent possible.

  • ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • • Oversees and manages shift of responsibility, including but not limited to addressing customer and staff concerns. • Assigns duties, assures appropriate documentation is filed, and reports concerns to Department Director and/or Safety Committee. • Assures equipment and systems are continuously in good working order by conducting maintenance and inspections as needed. Report concerns to Department Director. • Works with other departments as needed to assist in coordination efforts of their housekeeping/pest control/landscaping needs. • Assures cleanliness of buildings and grounds of the medical campuses and identifies safety concerns or maintenance issues to the proper departments. • Assures shift activity is documented and reports are entered and filed. • Assures unusual circumstances reported by customers or team members are dealt with appropriately and expeditiously. • Assures unusual findings are brought to the correct departments to handle. • Notifies Department Director or AOC of all unusual occurrences. • If circumstances dictate, regulate foot traffic flow to maintain a safe path around impediments. • Remember our emergency policies and procedures and effectively responds to codes and emergency situations. • Attends all guest relations, guaranteed patient satisfaction and mandatory training programs. • Understands and complies with work rules and safety regulations. • Works any shift necessary for the adequate coverage of the department and additional hours if needed. • Utilize security when staff are working in an area with unruly patients. • Ensure department associated Vendors or Representatives log into “Rep Tracks” before entering the facility. • Assures current required and industry/manufacturer recommended training of EVS staff and maintains documented records of such training. • Assures EVS department meets or exceeds all agency standards and code requirements, including but not limited to those of CMS, NFPA, OSHA, State, and local agencies as well as company specific safety policies. • Other duties as assigned.

  • MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED

  • • Demonstrate ability to communicate effectively. • Demonstrate ability to assess sanitary/cleanliness needs and properly care for those needs. • Knowledge on operations of alarms. • Demonstrates how to properly operate/teach use of all equipment used by the staff. • Demonstrates how to access policies on intranet. • Obeys rules/regulations of HIPPA, OSHA, CDC & Texas EHHS. • Always wears and uses appropriate PPE. • Demonstrates ability to accurately complete reports. • Demonstrates ability to work with outsourced contractors to enhance work force and capabilities. • Understands where sensitive/vulnerable areas are, makes extra efforts to eradicate tripping/slipping/falling hazards. • Assists with fire & disaster duties as assigned by the Department Director.

  • MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • • GED or high school diploma and some college. • 5 years of Healthcare EVS experience. • EVS Management experience preferred. • Hospital based experience is preferred. • Bachelor’s Degree preferred

  • LICENSURE AND CERTIFICATION

  • • Obtain & maintain a state or national certification in Environmental Services. • Obtain membership in a local/state or national Environmental Services Society
