The Director, Hardware Engineering Center (HWEC), directs an organization that designs and develops electronics and test equipment for RF, EW, Comms and EO sensors. Providing engineering, technology development, and manufacturing support for an extensive line of airborne, ground, and space-based systems. The Hardware Engineering Center Director is responsible for driving the Hardware Engineering Strategy & Execution Plan and has accountability for the success of the Hardware Engineering Center, including the integrity of Hardware products. This role is responsible for 2700+ Engineering staff in multiple locations across the country. The Director has signature authority for the center and is responsible for providing work product and service deliverables in a heavily matrixed Engineering Function with in Raytheon Space and Airborne Systems. The Director, HWEC, ensures expertise is deployed and integrated in an efficient and effective manner to meet SAS Business and Customer needs. The role ensures that the Engineering Center’s leaders and engineers are actively engaged and partnered with the SAS Program Management Offices in meeting overall Program needs related to engineering, while maintaining the requirements and integrity of engineering work. The Director ensures that SAS solutions comply with program specifications and customer requirements. The Director, HWEC, is responsible for fiscal budget of the operations of the Center; including financial management of overhead budget, staffing management, continuous improvement of relevant discipline processes and tools and enablers. The director will need to be a change leader, including changes to business processes, systems and technology. They will play an integral part ensuring projects (change initiatives) meet objectives on time and on budget. They will work closely with the Organizational effectiveness, HR and teams to improve processes, roles/responsibilities and organization structures. The Director, HWEC develops competitive, forward-looking strategies and plans to ensure business success, growth and cross-functional collaboration. The position is responsible for the technical roadmap, products it is accountable for, and ownership of execution improvements. This position provides leadership, vision, and guidance to ensure that the daily operations of the Center align with the present and long-term goals of SAS Engineering and the Businesses it serves. Duties of the HWEC Center leader include but are not limited to: Engineering leadership for multi-regions encompassing employees in multiple sites across the country Leading an Engineering Center Leadership Team of approx. 10+ Direct Reports (Salary Grade's G12’s, G13's, E88's). Leading complex multi-product line, multi-program and cross-regional, cross-discipline Engineering product and service deliverables in a heavily matrixed Engineering and overall SAS Business. THIS POSITION MAY BE BASED IN EITHER McKINNEY, TEXAS OR EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA Required Skills: Minimum of 16 years Engineering Experience, with at least 10 years of line and/or program management experience Substantial experience (minimum of 10 years) in Engineering, Engineering management, Systems/ Electronics / electrical design engineering experience, Mechanical Engineering, Program Management or direct partnership with Program Management Financial acumen with experience assessing the impact of financial decisions on a division/Center's budget and the business/program Clear understanding of the needs of program customers Six Sigma Specialist Minimum Secret security clearance with the ability to obtain special access US Citizenship Ability to access US only data systems Desired Skills: Minimum of 20 years in engineering in technical roles of increasing responsibility Ability to communicate in a clear and candid manner. Capable of interfacing with all levels within the organization. Possess a general knowledge of the technology employed in the Center's products Apply change management process and to create a strategy to support adoption of the changes required by project or initiative Ability to build strong teams. Ability to solve complex problems Required Education: B.S. in Engineering, Math, Physics, or Computer Science; Masters Degree Preferred.
