Cabot Corporation Process Engineer in Pampa, Texas
Provides technical support in manufacturing process, distributed control systems (DCS), equipment problems and design modifications at the site to execute commercial and R&D runs in a safe, efficient, reliable, and environmentally acceptable manner while meeting quality and cost requirements.
Provides technical advice and support to resolve operating problems, equipment problems, understanding unit downtime issues, controlling unit grade operating conditions and investigating deviations using root cause analysis.
Supports implementation of R&D trials and prepares relevant documentation to execute. Specifies and implements equipment, procedures, and process changes to meet trial goals.
Serves as support to the plant regarding the programming and servicing of the manufacturing DCS. Troubleshoots and repairs DCS and historian issues.
Configures and programs changes or upgrades to the DCS, involving control language, logic blocks, graphics, databases, logs, reports and others.
Develops and provides training as required to support manufacturing personnel in the understanding and operation of manufacturing unit processes.
Develops new equipment specifications based on the requirements of the plant and R&D teams, draft requests for quotes, review supplier quotations and make recommendations for purchase.
Assist with repairs of equipment by working with manufacturers, vendors, and outside repair shops
Supervises and directs operators/mechanics/E&I/construction contractors
Interfaces with engineers, management, operations, and maintenance staff in a collaborative and efficient manner.
Ensures all product and process changes are implemented consistent with appropriate Management of Change protocol and relevant PSM elements to Cabot.
Provide support to develop and implement plant related capital projects
Degree in engineering from accredited college or University
Strong wide ranging technical skills in mechanical/instrumentation systems
Specific experience with DCSs (Emerson Delta V), Aspen Historian reporting and control systems
General computer programming knowledge and ability
General experience with microcontrollers and/or PLCs
Ability to gather, analyze data and draw well-reasoned conclusions or recommendations
Ability to manage team activities
Ability to work self-directed or on a team
Willingness to work in a fast paced environment that often requires hands on dirty work
High degree of adaptability and flexibility in environment with changing priorities, workloads, and hours
