Currently, we are in search of a Park Operations Foreman. See the essential duties and responsibilities below. We will be selecting an applicant for this position.

Leads the activities of an assigned Parks Operations crew(s) to carry out the work required in maintaining and repairing the City's parks and recreational system. Directly supervises work crews. With general direction from direct supervision, leads assigned crews in carrying out daily activities; repair and construction of parks, recreation areas and landscaping. Interfaces with other Parks and Recreation Department personnel; occasionally interfaces with other City departments and the external public.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide direction to assigned personnel; schedule crew assignments; assist with completing and reviewing all work performed by assigned crew(s); provide on-the-job training and oversight to less experienced personnel; provide input into crew member performance valuations; may recommend disciplinary action.

  • Oversee and assist crews with timely construction, repair, and maintenance of the City's park system.

  • Assist crews with completing routine cleaning and maintenance activities at related Parks and Recreation facilities; cut grass; trim vegetation; clean grounds.

  • Ensure assigned crewmembers comply with established operating standards and procedures, especially with regard to safety.

  • Maintain tools and equipment in safe and effective operating condition. Report unsafe or inoperable equipment to Parks Maintenance Supervisor(s) or make arrangements for required repair/replacement.

  • Submit required reports regarding crew activities.

  • Oversee preventative maintenance on equipment to ensure equipment is in proper working order

  • Ensure that tools material and proper equipment are taken to the job site in an efficient and orderly manner

  • Maintain an on call schedule

  • Implement departmental goals

  • Other duties as assigned

Education/Experience/Certification Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • 4+ years experience with maintaining parks and recreational facilities and systems with progressively increasing responsibility.

  • 4 plus years' experience in a successful supervisory role.

  • Valid Class C Texas driver's license and Certified Commercial Pesticide Applicator preferred. Certified Playground Inspector (preferred).

  • Current TDA Applicator's License or ability to acquire within 6 months.
