The Head of Data Architecture role is dedicated to advancing the security, quality, scale and efficiency of the data domain across the Commercial Banking portfolio. Additionally, this role will ultimately be responsible for ensuring alignment with the Global Technology Chief Technology Office and partnering with CB developers through innovation, best practices and firm wide standards.

Candidates must demonstrate a proven history of leading large transformational data programs in a complex organization. This individual must possess excellent analytical and communication skills with the ability to reach senior business management as well as technical audiences. The preferred candidate will have recent in-depth experience in a large data environments (big data). Additionally, the candidate would have experience with data analytics and visualization, cloud storage, and be able to work independently to solve complex problems. They should be able to focus on hands-on technical delivery, yet still possess the soft skills to interact with a variety of partners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the planning, executing, measuring, and reporting effort of a large data transformation program

  • Drive implementation of the CB overall data strategy and establish it as the preferred source of data across CB

  • Transform the organizational structure and culture to support a clear, cohesive, and aggressive delivery agenda

  • Conduct regular training and coaching engagements

  • Regularly assess the teams to monitor progress

  • Lead the planning, executing, measuring, and reporting effort of data transformation program including

  • Leading the team on implementation of processes and tools to load, confirm, and utilize the data being consumed from multiple sources across the Firm.

  • Work closely with the AD team to ensure the access methods and data is aligned and efficient to be adopted broadly across CB

  • Work with business partners to prioritize work, provide a functional environment to their data investigation, and help drive the overall CB data vision

  • Establish targets and drive the delivery in a KPI measured environment to ensure a solid rate of continuous delivery

  • Align with Global Technology Data Landscape and the various efforts to define, enable, and measure adoption target for end to end development and alignement

  • Regularly provide health check status to leadership team and track progress towards CB and Firm-wide goals

  • Develop and measure engineering talent through training programs and objective metrics gathering

  • Enable the development community through published content to guide developers

  • Minimum 10+ years technology experience

  • Minimum 7+ years big-data, analytics, and development experience

  • Experience with big data tools, such as Hadoop, HDFS, Hive, Sparq, Impala and others

  • Experience in large corporate data lakes and the various stages to ingest, transform, analyze, and visualize the data

  • Experience with building a robust services layer to access the large data repositories. Cloud-based micro-services would be the preferred background.

  • Ability to function in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities and tight deadline

  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact with developers, senior level personnel, subordinates, and team member

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a global team

  • Ability to influence senior executive stakeholders to take action / facilitate buy-in of recommendations

  • Ability to work with a team of SMEs to assess needs, understand requirements, and syndicate solutions

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact with clients, senior executives, team members and peers

  • Experience in financial services industry preferred

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; MBA or advanced degree preferred
