We are currently seeking a qualified individual to join our team as a Maintenance/Reliability Engineer (Fixed) at the Port Arthur facility. Under the direction of the Fixed Equipment Reliability Team Lead, this position will be responsible for the following:

  • Investigates equipment maintenance problems and initiates corrective measures

  • Applying fixed equipment engineering analysis to make repair or run recommendations

  • Basic knowledge in fixed equipment construction, inspection, and fitness for service codes (ASME VIII-1/b31.3, API 510/570/579, etc.)

  • Support Corporate MI Initiatives and Port Arthur’s RMS compliance efforts

  • Provide leak response support via technical review and approval of engineered clamps and wraps

  • Support capital projects by supplying engineering expertise in the specification, design, and construction of capital projects in accordance with plant design requirements, as well as regulatory, ASME, API, and CPC standards

  • Contribute scope development for maintenance and capital improvements

  • Serves as a subject matter expert in equipment failures and repair techniques during root cause investigations

  • Provides technical expertise to plant personnel on troubleshooting failures, repairs, and evaluating whether equipment is designed to meet its intended or existing service conditions

  • Ensures repairs, repair techniques, equipment specific training, are documented and made available

  • Participates in developing the maintenance budget to support the maintenance strategy

  • Provides input on development of work orders during development of turnaround work scope, particularly on critical equipment requiring engineering review or input

  • Creates/develops/changes/updates job procedures, checklists, JSAs, and initiates MOC’s

Requirements:

  • This position requires a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering

  • 3 years plant experience. Minimum of 1-year experience with Fixed Equipment

  • The successful candidate should be a self-starter who can work with minimal supervision

  • Should be able to evaluate and prioritize work to ensure alignment with the department's goals

  • Possess the personality and ability to relate to and to establish a mutually respectful relationship with 1) management, 2) peers and 3) the various facility level workers (Plant Manager, Plant supervision, and Plant workers) who are all responsible for ensuring good operations.

  • Organized, planning skills, able to manage multiple activities and programs timely and with a high degree of accuracy, able to meet work deadlines

  • Exceptional problem solving and analytical skills

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint Working understanding of SAP, Meridium
