As a Heavy Mobile Equipment Operator Supervisor, you will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Serves as supervisor over a Receiving, Storage and issuing section within the Major End Items Division at the Defense Distribution Depot, Red River.
  • Plans the use of subordinate workers, equipment, facilities, and materials based on workload projections. Establishes deadlines, priorities and work sequences in accordance with general work schedules, methods, and policies established by higher level supervisors. Coordinates work with other supervisors who supervise supporting or related work functions.
  • Participates in the initial planning of current and future work schedules and the development of budget requests, providing workload data, estimates, information

  • 1on staffing needs, and recommendations as to the scheduling of projected work.

  • Makes recommendations concerning changes to organizational structures, position management issues involving the supervised work operations, and relationships with other organizations.
  • Selects workers and assigns tasks to be performed. Explains work requirements, methods and procedures for the work supervised. Reviews work in progress or upon completion. Adjusts plans, assignments, and methods as necessary to accomplish the work as effectively and economically as feasible. Determines equipment and supply requirements as needed.

Physical Effort:Work involves constant reaching, bending, turning, and movement of hands, feet and arms. The work is frequently in awkward and strained positions and requires climbing on and off of vehicles. Vehicle operations result in frequent jerks and jolts which exposes employees to bruises, cuts and strains. Employee is required to lift up to 70 pounds. If the item is heavier, assistance is requested or equipment is used.

Working Conditions:Skill in operating, towing, and maneuvering tactical wheeled and tracked vehicles; knowledge of crane operations, with associated rigging in order to load, unload and move equipment and material. Knowledge of local, state and Federal traffic laws, rules and regulations in order to safely operate equipment. Ability to perform preventive maintenance and make minor repairs, as required. Knowledge of sequences, steps, methods, documentation and procedures used in processing material into and out of the supply system. Must be familiar with stock inventory and location procedures.
