Southern Veterinary Partners Assistant Manager-Foster Creek Veterinary Hospital in Richmond, Texas

Reporting to the Hospital Manager, the Assistant Manager is responsible for assisting the Hospital Manager within our fast-paced, multi-doctor veterinary hospital. The Assistant Manager will assist the Hospital Manager with HR functions including hiring/staffing, training, performance management, and instituting/maintaining compliance with policies and procedures that ensure safe and efficient practices within the hospital environment, as well as administrative tasks and client relations.

The Assistant Manager will facilitate the following under the guidance of the Hospital Manager:

  • Delegate and ensure that all staff complete end of day checklist

  • Reconcile End of Day Period Reports and check daily deposits

  • Approve daily timesheet and correct schedules in Dayforce

  • Have knowledge and be able to apply labor laws appropriately

  • Address and work to resolve employee conflicts and behavior

  • Work with clients to ensure all needs are met

  • Prioritize multiple tasks in a calm, organized manner.

  • Maintain proper documentation through client and pet records, i.e. referral documentation, previous medical history received, etc.

  • Demonstrate ability to show empathy toward clients and treat pets with compassion and respect.

  • Maintain a positive attitude in all interactions with clients, pets and other teammates.

  • Excellent customer service skills and an exceptional level of communication in a professional manner.

  • Manage the financial needs of the hospital by maintaining accurate balances through collection of client transactions, following all cash and credit card handling procedures, and following proper opening and closing procedures.

  • Utilize hospital computer systems to document medical records and communicate with clients and teammates.


  • Excellent communication skills with demonstrated success tailoring messages to various audiences

  • Conflict management skills

  • Experience leading a diverse work force and establishing a positive, "can do" team environment

  • Experience leading a team in a customer focused veterinary practice, hospital or retail environment

  • Veterinary experience strongly preferred
