Scope of Job

TheUTRGVSchool of Medicine Department of Surgery is recruiting an Academic Plastic Surgeon. The successful candidate will have demonstrated strong clinical capabilities in the field of plastic surgery. Responsibilities include clinical care for surgery patients; teaching of medical students and residents. A track record of academic productivity is required, as the candidate will be involved actively in the research and academic mission of the Department.

Minimum Qualifications

Must be Board Certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, be eligible for a Texas Medical License, and qualified to hold a faculty appointment in the Department of Surgery at theUTRGVSchool of Medicine and appropriate hospital staff appointments. The successful candidate should have a proven record of clinical excellence, experience in an educational environment, and outstanding communication skills. Demonstration of strong commitment to the education of residents and medical students is essential.

UTRGVis a distributed institution. As such and as assigned, the position mayrequire presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley. Work isperformed primarily in a general office environment. This position is security sensitiveand thereby subject to the provisions of the Texas Education CodeĀ§51.215. The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System ofTexas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional RetirementProgram (ORP) instead ofTRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per weekand at least 135 days in length.
