Scope of Job

The Department of History at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) occasionally has the need to hire non-tenure track One-Year Lecturers to teach in its Bachelors/Masters of History program. Responsibilities include delivering quality instruction in the program, advising students, and participating in scholarship activities serving the college, university or local community as needed. UTRGV faculty are expected to demonstrate a strong commitment to student success and to advancing the university, college, and program missions, as well as a commitment to UTRGV’s vision, mission and core priorities (

Minimum Qualifications

The qualifications to be considered as an OYA is a master’s degree in History or a related field of study (18 hours of graduate coursework in History) from an accredited institution.

Preferred Qualification

Teaching experience is desirable, as well as ability to use technology to support teaching and learning.


One-Year Lecturers are paid a 9-month academic rate commensurate with experience and/or qualification in the discipline.
