At BMC, the outstanding Machine Operator has a focus on efficiency, dependability, and safety. This dependable team member reads and cuts accurately cords/webs and makes speed cuts with little supervision.
Major Responsibilities:
Identify and sort various beam and I-Joist grades.
Use appropriate equipment to verify angles and depths of cuts performed.
Train other machine operators in basic duty assignments, as directed by location management.
Ensure accuracy of cuts before sending to assembling process.
Operate various machines as required by particular operation.
Tracks and logs daily production for use in assembling and other manufacturing processes.
Cross-train in other duties of manufacturing facility.
Other duties as assigned by management.
Required Skills
Minimum Education: High school or GED.
Use and read a measuring tape and framing square correctly.
Operate multiple types of machines including saws and automated door cutting machinery.
Ability to communicate with other coworkers and supervisors.
Must be able to:
Lift 65 pounds from ground level to standing position, 20 pounds above my head.
Pull 20 pounds from a standing position, from various levels, including above my head.
Pull 20 pounds from a kneeling position, from various level, including above my head.
Stand and/or walk for an 8-10-hour shift.
Frequently bend and stoop during an 8-10-hour shift.
Temperatures will vary.
Ability to work in dusty and noisy environment when operating machines and tools.
Ear protection required when exposed to noise for an extended period of time.
Eye protection and steel toed (safety toed) hard sole leather boots required at all times.
Overtime work could be involved.
Required Experience
- Minimum Experience: 1-year experience as machine operator or relevant position within the building materials industry.
