Kforce Development Engineer in Round Rock, Texas

Kforce is seeking a Development Engineer to support our enterprise technology client based in Austin, TX.Summary:The role will be working on development, unit testing & prototyping the projects that are moderately complex in nature, where good judgment is required in resolving problems and making routine recommendations. The candidate will participate in the coding of development and automation tools and of coding test cases using coding skills such as C/C & Python. The candidate will work in a team environment but will often execute their tasks independently. In addition, they will independently construct, troubleshoot, and test prototype designs as well as assist engineers in test phase of prototype systems. In addition to the coding responsibilities, the candidate may also be involved in testing early development level solution components and assisting to triage issues found during test.Responsibilities:

  • Responsible to help code new innovative server storage development and automation tools for various server storage products

  • Perform design verification and characterization on server storage products

  • Troubleshoot and repair systems to the component level

  • Set up, configure, and test prototype systems and software

  • Perform and design test plans and test cases for the new software

  • Perform functional tests and analyze newly developed systems to ensure operation and reliability

  • Assist other engineers in completing assigned tasks

  • Work on assignments that are moderately complex in nature where judgment is required in resolving problems and making routine recommendations

  • BS/MS degree in ECE, CE, CS with 6 years of industry experience in Server/Storage Management software development

  • Strong Firmware & System development background with strong C/C development/debug skills

  • Strong in Embedded Linux programming, OS Internals, memory management, IPC, thread programming and embedded application software development

  • Proficient in software development tools such as IDEs, compilers, debuggers, emulators, source control system and defect/bug tracking systems

  • Prior work experience dealing with cross functional teams, partners/vendors, open sources and standards

  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written

  • Solid understanding of RAID Controllers, Enterprise Key Management, SCSI/SAS/SATA/NVMe protocols

  • Experience/exposure to Python Programming, Scripting, I2C, UEFI, VDM, MCTP protocol is a plus
