Position Overview: The Chief engineer will lead Air Force Cyber System engineering, sustainment and integration services to military organizations across the country. This team of cyber operators will perform full spectrum lifecycle support for existing and emerging technology systems focused on guaranteeing the U.S. military’s freedom of action in the contested cyber domain. Assignment will include the full gambit of technology identification, development, integration and test, and product lifecycle support.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide strong team leadership as well as hands-on contributions across the full spectrum of technical requirements supporting cyber operations from vulnerability research and exploit development, to validation and testing, to systems integration, to delivery.

  • Lead engineering and integration efforts to sustain and maintain existing IT systems and environments IAW disciplined engineering practices and sustain applications, databases and interfaces in compliance with applicable AF/DoD standards.

  • Investigate, analyze, isolate, characterize, diagnose, resolve, and document complex application software, network, hardware, and operator-induced anomalies and system deficiencies.

  • Work in teams consisting of government, military, and other contractor personnel to support, administer, troubleshoot, modify and upgrade computer systems, devices, and software; including but not limited to: firmware configuration, storage, networking, virtual infrastructure management, load balancing, system optimization, development and application of system unique patches and commercial patches, software installation, software updating, backup, restore, and data transfer.

  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures and documentation for scripts, programs, process flow, and system configurations while participating in meeting and phone calls, provide presentations and recommendations and report on system status, updates, schedules, and technical tasks assigned.

  • This will include security non-compliance fixes, analysis and determination of normal system behaviors, on-call assistance to users for troubleshooting, installation, and maintenance, as well as draft scrips, administration, tools, and on-site software to maintain the system.

  • Develop, test, and assess rapid prototype capabilities in a controlled environment prior to deployment to production environment. Candidate systems may include servers, desktop system, mobile devices, embedded systems, infrastructure devices, weapons systems, and associated system protocols. Specific technical requirements may include systems analysis, reverse engineering, technical testing, DevOps, agile software development across multiple operating systems and languages.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to perform PowerShell scripting is a must

  • 6 years of system administrator/engineer experience with hands-on implementation experience

  • 4 years’ experience with Windows Server (2012, 2012 R2, or 2016) highly preferred OR 4 years’ experience with Linux operating systems (Red Hat, CentOS, other)

  • 4 years’ experience with enterprise cloud and virtualized desktop infrastructures such as: VMware vCloud/vSpehere 5 (or newer), Citrix XenServer 3 (or newer), Oracle VM 3 (or newer)

  • OR 2 years’ experience with personal cloud and virtualized desktop infrastructures such as: VMware Workstation 11 (or newer), Citrix XenDesktop 3 (or newer), and Oracle VM VirtualBox 4 (or newer).

  • 2 years’ experience with DISA Security Technical Implementation Guide

  • 3 years’ experience with threat management and intrusion detection and prevention systems such as: Trend Micro Deep Security, Snort, Sourcefire, McAfee Anti-Virus, or CloudShield

Education / Certifications

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field of study; Master’s preferred

  • Must have a Security Plus CE or other IAT Level 2 Certification IAW DoD 8570

DoD Security:

  • Must be a US Citizen

  • Must have a current DoD Top Secret Security Clearance

  • Must have held a SCI within the last 2 years

Travel: 5% - 10% of your time will be spent traveling to both CONUS and OCONUS locations
