USAA Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Advisor Lead (100% Remote Work Available) in San Antonio, Texas

Purpose of Job

We are currently seeking a talented Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Advisor Lead. This position will be located in San Antonio or will be available to work remotely, (100% Remote Work Environment).

Responsible for the coordination, analysis, development, and implementation of business-specific Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) strategy to achieve DEI strategic imperatives, aligned with DEI-related employee and business groups across the enterprise. Leverages data-driven insights to identify opportunities in the business and develop defensible solutions and plans of action to drive results that align and support both operational and strategic priorities of the enterprise through providing consultation to Executive Council and all levels of COSA and LOB leadership, CoSA and LoB D&I working groups, Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), education and training programs, and participation with external sponsorships and conferences. Partners across various HR organizations leveraging DEI data (reports and insights, Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) data, Affirmative Action programs, training, and other fact-based information) to support focused activities that align with enterprise DEI strategy. Primary focus will be support for employee driven and employee focused activities to ensure a healthy DEI culture across the enterprise. Additionally, provides support for programs that engage USAA members (customers) in ways that reflect their unique needs; along with supporting activities and strategies that promote and advocate for diversity and equity within communities.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Identifies and manages existing and emerging risks that stem from business activities and the job role.

  • Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled.

  • Follows written risk and compliance policies and procedures for business activities.

  • Creates, executes, and manages full scale DEI strategies and programs, through consultation and impactful plans of action, to meet Enterprise and CoSA/LOB DEI strategic and operational plans, DEI changing business needs, and ensure quality and best practice focused programs and solutions to support the achievement of goals and desired outcomes. Prepares DEI reports including data analysis and identification of opportunities and solutions.

  • Partners with the VP and Director of DEI in the development of the DEI strategic vision; serves as the subject matter expert (SME) and lead for the most complex DEI business transformation related projects and initiatives.

  • Provides enterprise DEI consultation, advice, and solutions and serves as primary liaison to Executive Council and all levels of COSA and LOB leadership, CoSA and LoB DEI working groups regarding Employee Resource Groups, community events and investments, DEI policy developments, responses, and communications.

  • Researches and analyzes DEI best practices including development of implementation strategies, business plans, action plans, or programs. Partners across various HR organizations and leverages DEI data (reports and insights, Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) data, Affirmative Action programs, training, and other fact-based information) to support focused activities that align with enterprise DEI strategy.

  • Collaborates with senior leaders and peer partners in the design of course content for DEI presentations, communication, training, and learning modules.

  • Coordinates DEI-related surveys and serves as a liaison to supplier diversity to ensure alignment with enterprise diversity, equity, and inclusion.

  • Leverages established metrics to measure effectiveness of DEI programs. Responsible for staying abreast of issues and industry best practices to elevate outcomes.

  • Serves as a team lead who applies expert knowledge of DEI, the business, and strategic priorities and acts as a proxy for leadership when necessary.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required OR 4 additional years of related experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted in lieu of a degree.

  • 8 years of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) experience in one or more human resource disciplines or general DEI business consulting/analysis experience.

  • 4 years of experience leading cross-functional teams or projects requiring strong collaboration, facilitation, and negotiation skills.

  • Subject-matter-expert understanding of the DEI function/discipline.

  • Subject-matter-expert level of business acumen in the areas of the DEI business operations, industry practices, and emerging trends required.

  • Demonstrated ability to assess and make decisions of a complex nature that aligns to Enterprise and/or CoSA DEI objectives.

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and influence at all levels.

  • Subject-matter-expert knowledge of data analysis techniques and tools and Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

  • Ability to recognize key market trends and mitigate potential risks through proactive recommendations and thought leadership.

  • Proven ability to work with highly confidential information.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience and/or knowledge of financial services or banking industry to include talent recruitment and development, customer experience, social impact and Community Reinvestment Act (CRA).

  • Demonstrated and significant experience with developing briefing, written and verbal communications, and presenting highest level corporate leadership to include C-Suite leadership

  • Experience assessing and interpreting analytical data to uncover strength and opportunities to develop plans of action.

  • Recognized, respected, and known influencer within the DEI community, to include shaping best practices and possessing a deep and wide diverse network.

  • Extensive project management and issue identification/resolution skills working in an Agile environment.

  • Experience working in DEI at a Fortune 500 company known for its’ Diversity or “Best Places to Work” strategies and played a role in driving achievement of diversity recognition.

USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market position. The salary range for this position is: $106,800 - $192,300*( this does not include geographic differential it may be applied based on your work location)

Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance or at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.

*Geographical Differential: Geographic pay differential is additional pay provided to eligible employees working in locations where market pay levels are above the national average.

Shift premium: will be addressed on an individual-basis for applicable roles that are consistently scheduled for non-core hours.
