JOB SUMMARY Perform community job development and participant job placement, working closely with the referring agency. Develop partnerships with employers and coordinate efforts of a Business Advisory Council. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Develop and implement placement plans for individual participants. Make employer contacts to develop job opportunities for the short and long-term. Coordinate job contacts, job analysis, and other activities with Vocational Rehabilitation Counselors and the Employment Assistance Specialist. Perform job analysis. Assist in job accommodations in external environment, based on referring agency guidelines. Develop and coordinate efforts of a Business Advisory Council. Educate members and employees about blindness and accommodations. Explore various local industries to determine feasible job markets. Research training needs. Perform job coaching or identify suitable job coaching services, as needed. Transport program consumers as needed. Follow-up with consumers and employers after placement and provided on-site support. Maintain records necessary to measure consumer progress (and for billing) and write progress reports with recommendations within 10 days of the reporting period. Maintain employer database. Assist with para-transit systems as needed. Provide sensitivity training to employers and organizations. Evaluate program effectiveness, prepare quarterly reports. Submit monthly statistics, report number of consumers served. Represent the Lighthouse at exhibits and presentations Attend and participate in departmental meetings. Employment Specialist Grade 8 Page 2 of 2 ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES Submit quarterly reports concerning progress towards business plan goals. Assume additional responsibilities; perform additional duties and complete special projects as assigned. Representative of the William Judson Center School of Business Assist in recruiting new students for the William Judson Center School of Business. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITES Knowledge of public relations. Ability to present a positive image of the Lighthouse and consumer population to employers and community for job development and placement. Effective written and verbal communications skills, including an ability to communicate and work effectively with persons with disabilities. Ability to apply behavioral principles to motivate and assist participants in achieving their goals. Ability to initiate, coordinate and organize activities independently. Knowledge of access technology for the blind and visually impaired. Knowledge of blindness and other disabling conditions. Skilled in job analysis. Knowledge of community resources for persons with disabilities. JOB QUALIFICATIONS The University of North Texas (UNT) Workplace Inclusion and Suitable Employment (WISE) Texas Job Placement Credential A bachelor s degree in rehabilitation, business, marketing, or related human services; and one year of documented experience providing employment services to individuals; or an associate s degree in rehabilitation, business, marketing, or related human services; and two year of documented experience providing employment services to individuals. Experience in job development and placement, and personnel recruiting. Bilingual preferred. Local Travel: Approximately 50%. Salary: Commensurate with experience.
