Summary

As a National Bank Examiner/Bank Examiner (Retail Credit), you will serve as a functional lead andassist inthe supervision ofretail credit activities inmidsize banks.

Responsibilities

As a National Bank Examiner/Bank Examiner (Retail Credit), you will: Serve as Examiner-in-Charge (EIC) of retail credit examinations which may include retail installment lending, retail mortgage lending, credit card lending, merchant processing, overdraft lending, small dollar lending, mortgage banking, appraisal review, credit scoring, collections, debt cancellation and waiver products, credit related insurance products, or small business lending.

Plan, organize, and control retail credit supervisory activities in midsize banks. Review and discuss findings conclusions, and areas of concern with Board of Directors, committees of the board, or senior bank management in coordination with EIC.

Coordinate withother subject matter experts to identify operational risk and payments risk. Establish effective working relationships regarding corporate governance, operational risk and payments systems.

Demonstrate a strong commitment to training through mentoring or OCC instructor assignments. Monitor and evaluate work of assigned staff.Take the initiative in developing other examiners.

Communicate supervisory activity findings, and existing and emerging retail credit risks orally and in writing to internal and external parties.

This is a 5 year rotational position. If selected, you will be required to sign a non-bargaining unit Rotational Agreement that details conditions.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements within 60 calendar days after the closing date of this announcement:

You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the NB-V band level. Examples of specialized experience for this position include: Leading exams or audits of a financial institution’s retail credit risk management processes (e.g., credit underwriting practices, credit analysis, account management, risk rating accuracy, collections, or audit and loan review); OR

Leading exams or audits of a financial institution with retail credit related laws, regulations, and guidance. The experience may have been gained in the public sector, private sector, or through volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.

Education cannot be used to qualify for this position.

Additional Information

Applicants may apply under OCC’s Alternative Location Arrangement for long term traveland will be subject to the provisions of the Alternative Location Arrangements PPM 3110-53.

Theapplicant is expected to be onsite at USAA inSan Antonio, TX a significant amount of work time (up to 50% of the time if the selectee is in an alternative location arrangement).

If in an alternative location, theapplicant is expected to be at the bank headquarters no later than noon on the first workday, departing no earlier than noon on the last workday and under normal circumstances there should be no travel on Sunday.
