Southwest Research Institute PROGRAM MANAGER - R&D - MARINE STRUCTURES AND ENGINEERING in San Antonio, Texas
The Program Manager will be responsible for business development, proposing, and winning projects that maintain high utilization of multiple technical and engineering staff members in the section. Support Section/Department/Division Management in organizational planning, operational management, and facilities sustainment activities. The Program Manager will also handle team building, staff mentoring, and leading project teams. Additional responsibilities include: propose, win and, successfully complete large complex projects. Manage all aspects of the project (i.e. resource planning, costing, scheduling, purchasing of requisite material, engineering, technical work, and reporting); participate in section strategic planning meetings; interview prospective new staff members for the section.
Requires a Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline with at least a 3.0. Those with a Graduate Degree in Business and a background in the technical fields related to structural/mechanical engineering may be considered. Those with a Science related Graduate degree may be considered with related work experience. Requires a minimum of 10 years of experience in a structural/mechanical technical field, experience marketing and managing engineering, or technical, projects, and managing staff (engineers or technical staff). Must have 3 years of experience in Oil/Gas, Marine, Maritime, large Construction, or Government projects. Requires strong writing and verbal communication skills. Must be willing to demonstrate a high work ethic and be entrepreneurial in nature; willing and ready to take responsibility for financial and technical success of the MS&E; section. Experience with large scale structural testing/and or data acquisition, large fabrication projects, and involvement in military project management of large fabrication/construction projects is a plus. Professional Engineering (PE) license and/or Project Management Professional (PMP) designations are preferred. A valid/clear driver's license is required
