Job Description

UTHSCSA-Department of Psychiatry is seeking a full-time Research Specialist to support two programs (1) our department’s collaboration with the State of Texas in redesign and construction of state psychiatric inpatient facilities, and (2) clinical research studies in child and adolescent psychiatry. The successful applicant will be energetic, self-directed, and inquisitive; have excellent communication, organizational, and quantitative skills; and enjoy collaborating with a diverse research team and interacting with children.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in above fields preferred.

  • A strong interest in psychiatric research and systems of care.

  • Previous experience with neuroimaging, mental health or pediatric research, and child and adolescent populations.

  • Comfort with technology and eagerness to learn proper use of equipment used in data acquisition.

  • Background and experience in data management and basic statistical analysis.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology, neuroscience, or a related field.

  • Experience with searching for and evaluating quality of background literature in policy or research fields.

  • Computer skills – advanced word processing and document preparation; familiarity with data spreadsheets and databases.
