Position Description

The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Texas State University seeks to fill a tenure-track position at the assistant professor level in the area of physical or analytical chemistry. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate courses in his/her expertise to meet the teaching needs of the department and establish/maintain an externally funded, nationally recognized research program involving undergraduate and graduate students. All positions are subject to availability of funds.

Required Qualifications

• A Ph. D. in chemistry or a closely related field.• Postdoctoral or equivalent research experience.• A record of peer-reviewed publications.• The ability to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in physical or analytical chemistry.

Preferred Qualifications

• A strong publication record that demonstrates the ability to conduct high level research.• Potential to establish an externally funded, nationally recognized research program.• Research expertise/interests that complement the department’s mission/needs.• Capability to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in physical or analytical chemistry.• Ability to effectively mentor chemistry and biochemistry undergraduate and graduate students.• Potential to contribute to the development of a diverse and inclusive learning community through teaching, research, mentorship and service.

The selected candidate will be required to provide official transcripts from all degree-granting universities.
