Position Summary:

Advises and consults with Medical School (MS) and UTHealth faculty regarding design, development and implementation of online curriculum needs, including emerging technologies relating to medical education. Manages evaluation process and collaborates with course/clerkship directors for required medical school curriculum throughout all 4 years. Guides programming team for web-based undergraduate medical education (UME).

Position Key Accountabilities:

  1. Supports all Medical School Learning Management System users, including advising faculty and staff on course design and development. Serves as the medical school representative/liaison to the HSC Learning Management System Steering Committee.

  2. Manages the evaluation process of all required MS curriculum evaluation, which includes collaboration with, course/clerkship directors, coordinators and students. Maintains evaluation data archive for Curriculum Committee and facilitates evaluation process for subcommittees.

  3. Provides user-interface/functionality guidance for programming team on web-based educational projects, including MS-Gradebook, Annual Course and Clerkship Reports and Evaluations (ACCRE), Schedule Change Request tool, and the online application and website for the Academy of Master Educators (AME).

  4. Serves and performs various activities related to MS and/or HSC committees, including Curriculum, Learning Management System Steering Team (HSC),Clerkship Directors, Technology in Education Advisory Committee (TEAC), Learning and Technology Advisory Team (HSC).

  5. Updates and maintains Office of Educational Programs (OEP) web pages.

  6. Manages and provides user support for specific elements in the One45 system.

  7. Curriculum mapping for annual reporting to the AAMC Curriculum Inventory and Reports (CIR) database

  8. Creates and maintains the official Medical School required course calendars

  9. HSC calendar requirements from the Medical School (exam dates, spring break, etc.)

  10. Facilitates informational and training sessions for departmental education coordinators regarding curriculum policies, procedures and implementation of new curriculum related technologies.

  11. Troubleshoots and supports various computer and audio/visual needs for OEP personnel and other departmental faculty.

  12. Responsible for the design, execution and effectiveness of a system of internal controls which provides reasonable assurance that operations are effective and efficient, assets are safeguarded, financial information is reliable, and compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures.

  13. Manages human resources activities for direct reports in regards to: recruiting and selection, hiring and termination, training, professional development, mentoring, counseling, performance evaluations, and salary planning.

  14. Performs other duties as assigned.

Certification/Skills:

This position requires excellent organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple, diverse projects simultaneously. A high level of interpersonal, problem solving, oral and written communication skills are a must to effectively collaborate with faculty, students and various project teams. Learning management systems, HTML programs, office software experience preferred.

Minimum Education:

Master’s degree in Education

Minimum Experience:

Five years of experience with Medical School curricular programs and evaluations, and documented experience in curriculum development and evaluation, teaching skills, and research methodology.

Physical Requirements:

Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.
