Serving as a field-based extension of Medical Affairs, the Oncology Liaison (OL) will represent the Company and their approved product indicated for the extended adjuvant treatment of adult patients with early state breast cancer.
The OL will build long term peer to peer relationships with opinion leaders, patient treaters and other stakeholders within the breast cancer community to deliver clinical, scientific, and technical education on the role of breast cancer. The OL is responsible for cultivating and maintaining collaborative relationships with influential members of the medical community to support company, disease state and therapeutic awareness, in addition to serving as an advanced technical, scientific, and medical expert for the assigned region. These scientific exchanges will support and/or expand current therapeutic concepts, as well as ensure the safe and effective utilization of Company product(s).
The OL responsibilities include development of KOL customer facing strategy, strategic implementation of KOL relationships based on sound product knowledge, and consistent interactions and feedback with regional and local oncology Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) across the US within in the defined geography. The primary areas of focus (including but not limited to) are KOL identification and engagement, speaker training and liaising with Medical Affairs (MSLs), Clinical and Early Research and Development, Marketing and Sales.
Identify, profile, cultivate and maintain long-term relationships with breast cancer focused KOLs in the oncology community.
Aligning with cross functional account plans & teams, the OL orchestrates resources with key/priority breast cancer KOLs agreed upon by a joint collaboration with Medical Affairs and Commercial team designees.
Conduct substantial business conversations focused on topics; such as product and disease state at appropriate venues, in and outside the office setting.
Executing, compliant and approved KOL programming; including disease state and product programming, as directed by Company Medical Affairs and Commercial designees.
Create a seamless regional communication plan with product cross functional partners to assure a coordinated approach to thought leader requests, including coordination of speaker programs and consultancy availability to marketing and field sales representatives.
Manage regional component of the Company's Speaker’s Bureau, both in programs, analyzing metrics, and speaker training.
Lead all congress related KOL engagement in accordance with disease state and product programming activities in region, or nationally including supporting and measuring any ongoing OLs strategies and tactics.
Plan and execute KOL engagements and executive encounters at local, regional and national conferences, POAs, in field engagements, and other venues as directed in a complaint manner.
Partnering with brand marketing to develop, refine, execute and measure KOL strategy including but not limited to Advisory board strategy.
An OL is expected to compliantly collaborate and communicate with the field commercial team on each assigned KOL, to ensure strategic and tactical cohesiveness.
Advanced degree in a science related field (PharmD, Advanced Practice Nurse, PhD) preferred. Bachelor’s degree required.
Active license in good standing
3 years of oncology (breast cancer) in a field-based role or related experience
Pharmaceutical industry experience preferred (field based medical, clinical educator, medical information, sales)
A minimum of five years of work experience in one or more of the following: product marketing, or medical / clinical experience in the same or related therapeutic area within the pharmaceutical / biotech industry
At least 2 years' previous direct experience with oncology/breast cancer thought leaders (physician and nurse) with demonstrated access to academic and key institutions
Demonstrated leadership skills
Ability to assemble and lead cross-functional teams toward a shared vision of success
Ability to present ideas effectively to individuals or groups, targeting presentation to the needs of the audience
Strong organizational skills
Strong project management experience, including superior analytical and planning skills
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Ability to execute against strategic and tactical plans under tight timelines
Ability to travel to meetings/trainings/programs as necessary
Work within regulatory and legal compliance guidelines
Must reside within the geographic area of the assigned territory, or within a reasonable distance
