The Department of Philosophy at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) is a pluralistic department in a Hispanic Serving university with a bilingual, bicultural, biliterate mission. We seek candidates to serve as Part-Time Lecturers to teach in its Bachelor’s Philosophy program. Responsibilities include delivering quality instruction within the program beginning Fall 2020. Candidates must be able to teach lower division philosophy courses such as Introduction to Philosophy, Critical Thinking, Introduction to logic, Ethics, Happiness and the Good Life, and Engineering Ethics. These courses will likely be offered online. The area of specialization is open. We especially seek candidates with experience teaching online and candidates whose goal is to inspire students to adopt philosophy as both a way of life and an academic interest. An MA in Philosophy is required by the start date, although a Ph.D. is preferred. The department is seeking high quality faculty members who will pursue global excellence in teaching, research, and service, including applied and translational research to address critical local, state, national, and global needs and providing a leadership role in fostering economic and community partnerships to help solve local, state, national, and global problems.

An MA in Philosophy or related field from an accredited university with 18 graduate hours in Philosophy is required prior to start date of Fall 2020, Ph.D. preferred.
