Texas Employer * Maintenance Worker Seasonal/Cemetery in WAXAHACHIE, Texas
This is an entry through journey level class in the maintenance worker series. Employees in this class are distinguished from Senior Maintenance Workers by performance of the full range of duties assigned, with no supervisory responsibility. Employees at this level receive only occasional instructions, assistance or supervision as a new or unusual situations arise and are fully aware of the operating procedure and policies or of the work unit. Duties and responsibilities: Duties listed below represent the various the various types of work that may be preformed. the omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them if the work is related to or a logical assignment to this class. Participate in repair and maintenance of city parks/cemetery, streets and downtown area, including operation of various equipment in the completion of assigned tasked. When assigned to parks: Perform various tasks related to maintenance and repair of parks/cemetery including mowing, weed eating, tilling and leveling ball fields, trim and plant trees and other plants, repair irrigation systems, pick up trash and clean restrooms. When assigned to streets : Perform various tasks related to repair and maintenance of city streets including mow right of way, fix pot holes, trim trees, clean ditches and cleaning various creeks, perform various task related to repairing and replacing missing or damaged signs, order sign material, fabricate and design signs for usage in the city. Wen assigned to Downtown: Perform various tasks related to the maintenance of the downtown area, including picking up trash and debris, emptying trash containers, cleaning pocket park bathrooms and replenishing supplies, picking up accumulated leaves in public places and reporting safety issues. operate various light equipment including mowers, tillers, pick up trucks, chain saws and other equipment as needed. Maintain and make minor repair to assigned vehicles, tools and equipment and report major repairs as needed. Adhere to safe work practices and procedures Respond to public inquiries in a courteous manner, provide information with in the area of assignment, resolve complaints in an effective and timely manner. Knowledge of: Operations of services and activities of a maintenance program Methods and techniques of maintenance equipment operation Pertinent Federal, State and local laws, codes and regulations Basic principles and procedures of record keeping Operations, services and activities of the city English usage, spelling, grammar and punctuation Occupational hazards and standard safety procedures Ability to operate a variety of maintenance equipment in a safe and effective manner Interrupt and apply Federal, State and local policies, laws and regulations. Understand and follow oral and written instructions Communicate clearly and concisely both orally and verbally Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work. Experience and training: Equivalent or completion of twelfth grade. One year of general maintenance experience A valid States drivers license is required and must be maintained throughout the employment Physical demands: maintain the physical capability to perform essential job tasks and responsibilities while performing the responsibilities of this job. The employee is regularly required to sit, walk, stand, talk and hear. Manual dexterity to use hands to handle , feel or operate objects, tools and controls, reach with hand and arms and perform repetitive movements of hands and wrists, operate a motor vehicle. the employee is required to frequently lift 25 pounds unaided. Specific visual abilities required for this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
