This position is part of a team of specialists who provide guidance to High Net Worth and Ultra High Net Worth clients over the phone. Our Portfolio Strategists partner with advisors and clients to understand goals, wishes, and concerns so that they can introduce customized ideas, suggestions and alternatives. The Options Strategist is responsible for finding opportunities and creating customized solutions utilizing options within the portfolio for income and hedging purposes. Additionally, the Options Strategist serves as a consultant-to-advisor in providing comprehensive practice level analysis and counsel to Private Client Advisors.

What you are good at

  • Work with Private Client Advisors, Financial Consultants and clients to create sophisticated, dynamic, and customized advised solutions.

  • Apply specialized knowledge in conjunction with comprehensive portfolio construction and advice. Can resolve a wide range of issues by applying judgment and technical know-how to identify creative ways to complete assignments, and influence others to take action.

  • Extend the application of knowledge both to the end client as well as internal advisors in support of the goals of the broader advisory business. Must demonstrate initiative and have a strong desire to contact clients proactively to deepen relationships. Uses broad business knowledge and experience as a technical specialist to improve business outcomes.

  • Work on problems and situations of diverse scope where analysis of data requires an evaluation of identifiable and intangible factors. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and approaches for obtaining solutions.

  • Maintain a high level of professionalism in working with key business partners. Displays the ability to effectively build trust, communicate and resolve conflicts where vital in fostering ongoing and effective working relationships.

  • Serve as a client resource in providing options solutions and investment recommendations to support retain, and grow Private Client Advisor practices. Maintains a role as center resource by providing updates, viewpoints and relevant research to the Private Client Advisor and Associate Private Client Advisor population regarding option strategies and how they can be used to generate income and/or protect portfolios.

  • Proactively engage Private Client Advisors and Senior Team Managers to introduce options and ways they can assist clients in achieving their objectives. Utilizes area of specialty to uncover and support growth opportunities by supporting the sales process and Branch partnerships.

What you have

  • Bachelor’s degree required

  • 5+ years’ experience in financial services

  • 3+ years’ experience in advice/portfolio management highly preferred.

  • CFP® or CFA designation preferred but not required.

  • Advanced understanding of Options strategies as well as an understanding of advice philosophy and knowledge of portfolio construction, while adhering to advice policies and guidelines.

  • Track record of experience in providing comprehensive advice and guidance to clients and/or extensive trading experience and product knowledge in equity derivatives.

  • Can effectively articulate personal branding message and the firm’s mission in support of maintaining and growing new relationships and overall sales activities.

  • Ability to communicate with strong speaking, writing and presentation skills.

  • Technological savvy, proficiency with computer hardware, software and ability to pick up new programs and changes quickly.

  • Experience and success at building and maintaining outstanding relationships with various internal partners.

  • Proven ability to create and deliver income advice to client’s overall goals and objectives. Use a wide range of products and strategies. Ability to remain flexible in managing partner relationships and ensuring the ongoing appropriateness of Schwab Private Client solutions for enrolled clients.

  • Demonstrated leadership, positive demeanor and collaboration that give to building Private Client Advisor partnerships and client loyalty.

  • Ability to listen for cues and identify consolidation and enrollment opportunities.

  • Demonstrates a high level of technical competency in Options Strategy, Modern Portfolio Theory, Technical Analysis, taxes, and financial planning.

  • Demonstrates ownership and coordination of additional internal and external resources to serve advisors and clients to drive outcomes.

  • Project management ability, organizational skills, attention to detail leading to effective time management
